On the 25th of November, the Flemish Network for Service-Learning in Higher Education holds it annual conference and network meeting. The central theme of this year is the connectedness with the immediate neighborhood of the campus. Under the title “service-learning in and together with the local community”, the conference focuses on place-based service-learning initiatives in Flemish higher education institutions.
The conference takes place in the city of Ghent, the third largest city in Belgium and is home to the University of Ghent, two colleges of KU Leuven and three University Colleges of Applied Sciences: Arteveldehogeschool, HOGENT, Odisee and Luca School of Arts. Almost all of these institutions have service-learning or other partnerships with their local community.
