Project timeline: 01/11/2023-30/06/2026

Project Description

The ServU Project – Service-learning in Higher Education for Ukraine’s Recovery aims to strengthen the synergy between Ukrainian higher education institutions (HEIs) and local territorial communities in order to jointly contribute to Ukraine’s recovery through the implementation of the Service-learning (SL) educational approach. The servU project – adapting SL to the context of war – proposes an innovative model to stimulate the development of students’ skills, responding to the needs of three types of local communities affected by the conflict: a) territories with a high number of internally displaced people; b) liberated territories; c) territories close to the front line, whose infrastructure has been significantly damaged.

Project Objectives

  • Adapt the service-learning implementation to the context of war and recovery;
  • Revise the Community Needs Assessment (CNA) model to address the needs of local territorial communities affected by the war;
  • Develop active citizenship skills through the teaching of service-learning courses;
  • Foster collaboration between the European Union, Ukrainian higher education institutions, and local territorial communities to support Ukraine’s recovery through service-learning courses;
  • Create a Ukrainian service-learning platform for knowledge sharing, transfer of best practices and network building.
